Introduction [Top]
First up, Thank you for visiting our website!
We are Tauranga's Secure, Fast, Friendly, Internet, Email, Laptop, and Online Games Cyber Cafe.
We Retail figurines, books, comics, and gaming cards from; Games Workshop, Magic, WOW (World of Warcraft),
Marvel, YGO (Yu Gi Oh), DnD (Dungeons and Dragons), and Pokemon.
History
The Gateway Cyber Cafe started as the Gateway Cyber Connection by Greg in 2000,
it was located in the Godards center and had 8 computers.
Early 2004 Neil bought into the company and it was named "The Gateway Cyber Cafe Limited",
10 more computers were added and the location was moved to Devonport Road.
Late 2006 Greg and Neil bought HEC bringing a retail aspect to the business,
and a new staff member Brent.
In April 2010 we moved from 26 Devonport Road up to 50 Devonport Road, increasing our computers to 20 with 13 brand new
computers and upgrading the OS on all to windows 7 Pro.
Current
We have 20 computers; 13 general computers and 7 gaming computers in a purpose built
Gaming Room, we also have room for 6 laptops.

Internet, Email, Online Games [Top]
Our internet rates start at $4 per Hour ($1 per 15 minutes)
If you are staying for 5 hours or more in one session our rates drop to $3 per Hour ($1 per 20 minutes)
We have 13 general computers, 7 gaming computers, and 6 Laptop stations

9:00AM to 10:00PM Daily
Speed
We have Very High Speed 10M/2M vDSL line from our ISP TelstraClear.
Security
We take security very seriously here!
Steps we have taken to make your visit a safe one:

ANTIVIRUS - We have the Network edition of AVG
We are also an AVG Authorized Reseller

FILE RESTRICTION - We have the computers locked down so people cannot install whatever they want reducing the risk of people intentionally or unintentionally installing programs such as key loggers, Trojans, etc.

SESSION RESET - After every single user session, our cafe program kills every process not required to run the operating system.
Not only does this protect the computer and next user, but if the previous user left with webmail, banking, or messenger services running, those programs will be killed forcing the next user to start fresh.
General Computers
These 11 computers are for people to check their emails, surf the internet, chat to friends and family online, and compose/edit documents.
Some of the programs available are:

Open Office - A multiplatform and multilingual office suite. Compatible with all other major office suites (word,excel,etc).

Skype - With Skype you can make free calls over the internet to other people on Skype for as long as you like, to wherever you like.

Yahoo Messenger - Allows you to instant message with anyone on the Yahoo server.

Windows Messenger - Allows you to instant message with anyone on the Windows Messenger server.

Internet - We use The Firefox Web Browser for a faster, more secure, and fully customizable way to surf the web.

And Many More... - AOL, ICQ, MIRC, Google Earth, etc.
Gaming Computers
The 7 gaming computers are more powerful computers, with the same features of the general computers, but also have games installed.
They are housed in a purpose build R16 Gaming Room!
Some of the games available are:

World of Warcraft - An online role-playing experience set in the award-winning Warcraft universe. Players assume the roles of Warcraft heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest across a vast world.

Warcraft 111 - Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne.

EA Battlefield 2 - Fight with elite Special Forces units in a great atmosphere, rich with camaraderie.
We also have BF-1942 and BF-Vietnam.

Steam - Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, Insurgency, etc.
Laptop Stations
Bring in your laptop and connect via Ethernet to your own dedicated network. Power is available, and we can provide you with a mouse.

Online Games Room [Top]
We have a purpose build R16 gaming room which can be also used for training.
Features
- Airconditioning.
- 7 Gaming Computers.
- Placings for an extra 3 laptops or own computers.
- Dimmed Lights
After Hours Room hire (10pm to 9am):
- $30.00 per hour.
- Minimum 2 hours.
- All players must be 16 or older.
- No alcohol, cheating and no spectators.
- Prior booking required with a deposit of 2 hours.

We have 3 staff
Greg and Neil are the owners/directors.
Brent works most nights.
All 3 can sometimes be found lurking in WOW on Blackrock or Proudmoore, cutting up the enemy in BF2, or prowling around Insurgency.
